Vehicle Description
Sourced AG is excited to present this 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16V finished in Blue-Black Metallic, one of only three color options available for the 2.3 16V, over a black leather interior.
The 190E 2.3-16V was the Mercedes-Benz's first step to return to Motorsport since bowing out after a tragic incident at Le Mans involving a 300SLR over 30-years prior. The engine was developed in conjunction with Cosworth, who added mandrel-bent exhausts, Mahle alloy pistons and a Cosworth-tuned ignition and fuel injection system. With the rest of the M102 as Mercedes-Benz had engineered, the 2.3-16 could rev to 7,100rpm and make 185bhp from about 5,500rpm to redline. The 2.3-16V would be heavily used European Touring Car Championship along with the E30 M3 & 944 Turbo and eventually become a dominating force in German Touring Car Championship (DTM).
This very original example is in excellent condition, with the self-leveling suspension working as new and still retaining the original Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo. The prior owner has cared for the car with extreme attention to detail sparing no expense and it certainly shows -- this example is both cosmetically and mechanically excellent.
The car drives extremely strong, shifts through all gears smoothly, and stops very nicely. The factory air conditioning blows cold, the black leather is equipped with factory Recaro seats which are in very nice shape showing virtually no bolster wear as shown in the gallery. The paint is in excellent condition and the spoiler shows no signs of clear-coat fade, as can be seen in the gallery. This specific example is also a Silver Star Preservation Certificate recipient and a badge has been added to the grille from when the Certificate was presented in 2015. Please call Bryan (609-915-7776) or Cyrus (908-655-7577) for more information on this exceptionally clean 190E 2.3-16V today.
